This card is perfect for today: winter & spring coming together. It’s officially the second day of spring… and snowing again! I heart VT.

I have slowly started collecting vintage pennants. I would love to have a store one day where an entire wall (or window display) is filled with these. I especially like the ones that are handmade… the letters are always a little off. I am thinking of making one for SH/Co. Found this one near my hometown… Keuka Lake is one of the glorious Finger Lakes. What up, upstate! Label on back says “DeMar Mfg. Co. Inc. / Buffalo, NY U.S.A” Photos by AB

Just wrapped up this custom stationery for a client. She is a young & fabulous elementary school teacher. Was inspired by her career and all that school brings to mind… namely, the No. 2 pencil. Client’s name & monogram were hand-drawn in pencil and printed on crisp white paper & envelopes.

As much as I love the current SH/Co. palette of yellow, black, and gray… I am already thinking about the next one. Got red on the mind right now.

Top to bottom: Ralph Lauren tartan plaid fabric, red & white twine, fabric tape, and ribbon (find similar here), post card of “Flag” by Jasper Johns from MoMA store, vintage varsity “B” found

Been working hard on SH/Co. branding & packaging over the past few weeks. The photos below show packaging for a custom stationery set (size A2). Excited to work on other sizes & products next…

I can’t stop collecting these old letterpress blocks. They come in so many different sizes & fonts… plus the residue from the inks gives them each a unique hue. The possibilities are endless. Right now I have them around the studio but I could see them being used for a project one day.

Getting a late start on St. Patrick’s Day but really excited about these new green envelopes at the Paper Source. The color is appropriately named “clover.” Gotta design some cards to match these for spring…

Came across these vintage scout books at an antique store last week. The ‘First Aid’ and ‘Athletics’ books were published in 1930 and 1931, respectively. Really love the design… the kraft paper covers & bright colors still look so fresh. The insides are filled with clean type and black and white hand drawn illustrations. Classic. As a former member of Troop 493, I was especially excited to come across a 1932 edition of the ‘Girl Scout Handbook.’ It is a beautiful hardcover book filled with useful advice on ‘Telling Direction by the Compass’ and ‘Caution in Use of Knife and Axe’…things every girl needs to know. The coolest part is that the troop leader’s name is listed on the first page and it is Grace Coolidge! As in wife of Calvin & former First Lady of the U.S.A. (born in Burlington, VT). Now that daylight savings has occurred, it has me thinking about spring, which inevitably has me thinking about summer. I met with with a couple of clients in Boston yesterday… They are getting married this summer on the Jersey shore. It is going to be a gorgeous wedding filled with the colors of sun, sand, & surf. Here are some ideas & inspiration I am working on for their invitation and other paper goods:
