Happy December, everyone! We had beautiful snow here in Vermont this weekend… it’s really starting to feel like winter (I could not be more excited). Such a magical time of year: the lights on Church Street are glowing, the chairlifts are full, tree sales are everywhere, and I’m drinking hot chocolate like there’s no tomorrow. I moved to Vermont on December 1st many years ago so it’s an anniversary of sorts, too. I hope you’re all enjoying the season so far.
I just added a couple of holiday cards to the shop that I can’t wait to share with you! I’ve been working hard on the hand-lettering for these, aiming to make them fun, yet clean + simple in the end. I hope you enjoy them. Check them out here.

Thank you + Happy Holidays!

The guest blog-athon continues! Today on Oh So Beautiful Paper, I am sharing the wedding invitations and day of paper goods I designed for Krysta + Brian. This is definitely one of my favorite projects of the year. Not only was it diverse in media (ink, watercolor, and charcoal), but it was also an excuse to play with pattern. Being challenged to combine my methods and materials in new ways is always a good thing. For the full scoop (and a link to pics of K + B’s wedding!), check out the full post here.

My second post for Oh So Beautiful Paper is up! This one features black and white bridal shower invitations that I recently designed for a client. I can never get enough of this classic, graphic palette. As much as I love color, b + w will always be my favorite. Check out the full post here.

More black + white.

LA Gears. Hypercolor tees. Full House. Boyz II Men. Shoop. Reality Bites. Smells Like Teen Spirit. Claire Danes. And of course, 90210 (Brenda + Dylan 4-eva). As someone whose junior high + high school years were entirely in the 1990s, I cannot hide my nostalgia for that decade. Chelsea of Frolic! blog and I were discussing this and decided we needed to spread the ’90s love. I created these stickers for you to spruce up your trapper keepers with… check out the full post + free download over on Frolic!

Have a rad weekend. See you at the Max? If not, maybe I’ll run into you at the Peach Pit afterwards.
P.S. Don’t pretend you don’t know every single word to this song, too.

One of my favorite parts of working at Burton was having insane, beautiful, and sometimes mind-boggling (are they super human?) snowboarding photos cross my desk each day. It was exciting to see the latest shots come in, find out where and what the team had been up to, and get a sense of how the stories would unfold during the upcoming season. Many of those photos were taken by legendary snowboard photographer, Jeff Curtes, who has been at the forefront of the industry for 20 years. As Burton’s Principal Photographer, Jeff has traveled to and documented locations and experiences many of us only dream of. So it was a real pleasure to have an opportunity to work with Jeff again in a new capacity.
Jeff is kicking off a new Sydney based venture called A Kid’s Life, focused on capturing honest, intimate portraits of kids in their natural environments. I was psyched to create the logo (below, center). We started with the idea of classic, old school letter blocks and ended with that notion - but in a more modern, abstract way. The results are hand-drawn blocks of color + letters, loosely stacked.
For more information, check out A Kid’s Life blog and jeffcurtes.com.

It’s been one helluva scorcher this week. I don’t know about you, but I’m not meant for these temps (you don’t exactly move to Vermont for the warm weather). In defense of the heat wave, I’ve added two new summer cards to the shop. Both were originally hand-painted using gouache. Take these to the beach, crack open a cold one, and get caught up on your correspondence already. The waves card is blank inside so you can add your own sentiments. The thank you is perfect for summer weddings + showers or anytime you need to send some gratitude. The waves are also available in a 10” x 8” art print. Check them out here!

Have a great weekend, everyone! Stay as cooooool as you can. Time to jump in the lake.

Hello, June! To kick off summer, I have added a collection of nautical prints to the shop. All four prints are available in either 5” x 7” or 8” x 10.” I am really excited about these… they’re a nice way to add a bit of summer to your walls + hopefully start a season of adventures and new discoveries. Check them out here.

The prints work well on their own, in pairs, or even as a quartet. They don’t need much — just a simple black frame does the trick.
Happy summer!

Hey, buds. Long time no blog. Been working on a bunch of projects and it’s gotten a little crazy around here! I am looking forward to making photo shoots and posting a part of my regular schedule again (also looking forward to a regular schedule - summer 2012 goal). In the meantime, here’s a glimpse of some hand-lettering and illustrations from the past few weeks. These are all from different projects and taken entirely out of context, which I love doing once in awhile. Keeps me on my toes and reminds me to push the envelope in terms of variety… all while keeping things consistent in an underlying way. The eternal struggle, right?!

Hope you’re all having a lovely spring so far. Summer is right around the corner and I’m psyched. While the blog has been (sadly) neglected of late, I’ve been giving Instagram lots of love. Follow me there for daily updates + inspirations (I’m addicted).
